The North Carolina southern outer banks (SOBX) offers some of the most incredible landscapes in the U.S. From the green sea waters of Emerald Isle, the wild horses of Shackleford Banks, Cape Lookout Lighthouse, the dunes and piers of Atlantic Beach and Fort Macon, to the fishing industry of Morehead City, Beaufort NC, and Harker’s Island, the Crystal Coast offers all the best beach and coastal photography. There are endless opportunities to explore for avid photographers. 

If you are a photography enthusiast or an experienced pro but don’t know where to go, a photo tour is the perfect way to enjoy the day creating beautiful landscape and nature images of your own. We will visit some of the areas most scenic locations, some known only to locals to ensure you capture the best subjects. Colorful shrimp boats, the saltwater marshes of down east, sea grasses on sculpted dunes—there are unlimited possibilities.

If you are vacationing at Emerald Isle or Atlantic Beach and looking for vacation activities, consider taking a photography class and tour to improve your photo skills. We will work one on one to customize your experience to fit your photography experience. This is the perfect way to learn to be a better photographer.

In this workshop you will learn how to be in the right place at the right time with the right tools to create wildlife images that stand out in a crowd. Learn what it takes to go beyond the typical snapshot and capture wildlife in their natural environment. We will cover equipment, safety, composition, proper exposure, behavior, how to find your subject, and the artistry of wildlife photography. Our location will allow access to some of the largest mammals in North America, the Eastern Elk. Morning and afternoon classroom then hands on in the field until dark.

Macro photography opens an entirely new creative world with virtually endless possibilities. From flowers to bugs, even product photography, macro photography allows you to explore creative ways to showcase subjects that are often overlooked but right under our noses! This class will discuss gear options, camera settings, lighting, tips and tricks for success, and touch on some creative processing options. We will start with lecture then hands-on shooting in small indoor studio sets. This is the perfect class for photographers who want to explore the many creative options of macro photography and free your inner artist!
